Size Guide

WildPalz uses an entrance-based sizing system. Choose the entrance size based on your pet’s body size — simple and reliable.

Rule of thumb
Entrance should be slightly wider than shoulder width.
Between sizes?
Choose the larger entrance — especially for fluffier hamsters.
Comfort first
Interior space scales proportionally with entrance size.

1) Choose Your Entrance Size

Entrance size determines whether your pet can enter comfortably. Use the table below to match your pet to the right entrance diameter.

Size Entrance Diameter Hideout Length Range Hideout Height Range Suitable For
Small 2.0–2.2 in 7.9–10.2 in 3.1–3.9 in Dwarf hamsters, small rodents
Large 2.75 in 11.8–13.0 in 4.3–5.5 in Syrian hamsters, larger small pets
Tip: If your hamster carries food in its cheek pouches often, sizing up can reduce rubbing on the entrance.
Tip: For multi-room hideouts, entrances matter even more — choose comfort over “snug”.

2) Common Hamster Size Reference

Many owners know their hamster by color name or pet-store label rather than exact type. Use this chart as a quick guide. If your hamster is between sizes or on the larger side, size up for a more comfortable fit.

Hamster Type Common Names You May Know Recommended Entrance
Dwarf hamster & Chinese Hamsters Roborovski, Winter White, Campbell’s, Djungarian, Chinese Hamster, and many common pet-store dwarf hamsters 2.2 in
Syrian Hamsters Syrian, Golden, Teddy Bear, Long-Haired Syrian 2.75 in

Tip: If you are not sure which type your hamster is, compare body build first. When in doubt, choose the larger size for a more comfortable fit.
